Community involvement
The Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council (SETRAC) plays a vital role in supporting the community by enhancing healthcare preparedness, response, and coordination across Southeast Texas. As a regional health resource, SETRAC serves as a bridge between healthcare organizations, emergency services, and government agencies.
Public Awareness Campaigns: It raises awareness about emergency preparedness, injury prevention, and health crises.
Volunteer Engagement: SETRAC coordinates with volunteers to support disaster response and recovery efforts as well as community education programs.
COVID-19 Support: During the COVID-19 pandemic, SETRAC played a critical role in distributing vaccines, managing PPE supplies, and coordinating hospital surge capacity.
Healthcare Workforce Support: It assisted in deploying additional medical staff to areas with critical shortages.
Disaster Preparedness & Response
The Regional Healthcare Preparedness Coalition (RHPC) is the preparedness committee of SETRAC with the mission of providing collaborative planning and response to emergencies, in a multi-disciplinary approach, and to preserve the medical infrastructure of the region.
Disaster Readiness: SETRAC helps hospitals, first responders, and public health agencies prepare for emergencies such as hurricanes, floods, pandemics, and mass casualty incidents.
Resource Coordination: It facilitates the distribution of medical supplies, equipment, and personnel during emergencies.
Training and Exercises: SETRAC organizes training programs and simulation exercises to ensure healthcare providers are prepared for disasters.
Healthcare System Coordination
The Emergency Healthcare System is the clinical arm of SETRAC with the mission of providing collaborative, multidisciplinary forum to improve the healthcare system in the region.
Healthcare System Coordination: It connects hospitals, EMS providers, and public health agencies to streamline communication and optimize resource allocation.
Standardized Protocols: SETRAC develops and implements regional guidelines for patient care during emergencies to ensure consistency and quality.
Data Sharing: The council manages data systems to monitor hospital capacity, emergency department status, and resource availability.
Education: SETRAC provides educational programs for healthcare professionals to enhance emergency care knowledge and skills.
